February 22, 2010 - Japanese automaker Toyota has announced yet another round of recalls. This time it’s the automaker’s Tacoma pickup trucks sold in the US. Upwards of 8 million Toyota cars have been recalled in the US and worldwide, amid reports of serious problems with the accelerators installed on several of the company’s most popular car models. The recalls have turned political, as the company has shuttered some American factories, and several of the automaker’s top executives scheduled to testify on Capitol Hill this week. The announcement is the latest in a string of recalls that have hurt the company's image and has prompted concern among many in Japan who fear the negative impact of Toyota’s problems could taint the nation’s iconic international reputation for producing well-engineered, high-quality products.
