US: China Auto Tariffs Part of 'Disturbing Trend'

GENEVA (AP) - 12/16/11 - The top U.S. trade official says China's new import duties on some U.S.-made vehicles are part of a "disturbing trend" by Beijing at the World Trade Organization. But the Ron Kirk, the U.S. Trade Representative, refrained from claiming outright that the measures were illegal under WTO rules. His comments Friday in Geneva come a day after his Chinese counterpart defended the tariffs, which range from 2 percent to 21.5 percent... (more)
